The Child Care Development Program (CCDP) is the primary federal program devoted to providing families with child care subsidies. The CCDP enables low-income parents and parents receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to work or participate in education or training programs. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) acts as the Lead Agency for the Child Care and Development Program (CCDP). Program activities are accomplished through state staff and sub-grantees that are responsible for administration, management, and daily operations for the program.
