This report presents an analysis of state and county-level data on Nevada children under six years of age who were tested for lead between October 1, 2021, and September 30, 2022. It highlights the number of children with blood lead levels (BLLs) at or above the CDC’s current blood lead reference value (BLRV) of 3.5 micrograms per deciliter (μg/dL) and the number of children residing in high-risk zip codes. The BLRV is a tool to identify children with higher BLLs compared with most children and it is not a health-based metric. For each county, the report summarizes key variables associated with lead exposure risk, including the population under six years old, race and ethnicity, poverty rate, and presence of older housing stock.
