In May 2019, Lyon County Human Services (LCHS), embarked upon a strategic planning process to identify the critical issues facing the department, the organization, and its service constituents with the goal of establishing a five-year plan. The strategic planning process was driven by a Strategic Planning Workgroup, which included key members of LCHS management.
The Strategic Planning Workgroup recognized the need to gather information about the organization and the community to help LCHS understand its current position and potential priorities for future action. Areas explored included internal and external factors affecting the organization, population projections, and community needs.
